Child Interent safety. A great concept. Want to be shocked? I am and I'm a child safety expert. Here's what I learned today. The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) has a new report out today that says as many as one in twenty people stumble across child sexual abuse images while surfing the Internet. This is absolutely crazy and unacceptable.
Do you have any idea what this does for folks like you and I? Online eCommerce and just good people surfing the web today are penalized?.
The study also says more than a third of all these sites show the most extreme images, according to a report published today. And the victims? The victims are the exploited kids. Three in ten of the victims appear to be aged under 6. Somewhere around 5 per cent are apparently younger than 2. More than three quarters of the children are girls.
I love this part: the IWF has found that both Russia and America have the most sites available. I am a proud American but this is downright disgusting and embarrassing. The sites in Russia are run by organised criminals, which make them difficult to police. And us, well, we're supposed to feel good because with all our aabuse sites America has the best record for shutting them down.
You can help put these vermin out of business. Its simple. Report the sites you stumble upon. Go to www.asacp.org and report a site.
